I have finally got a chance to read some of Medvedev's recent speeches. I have to say that I am a little concerned. The tone is very... well, helpless. He's playing the role of helpless monarch. Not that Putin did not do so, but I think that we (or most of us) believed that it was an act. Maybe it was, or maybe it wasn't, I cannot say for sure. However, I think that Medvedev's tone is not an act. He really is helpless, and he is sacrificing himself on the alter of Putin and Sechin's ambitions. Whether he is doing this willingly or not is a judgment call that I am not prepared to make.
