Congratulations

to the United Nations for stepping up to the challenge our world faces in the area of human rights. Kofi Annan definitely deserves another Nobel Peace Prize for this one. It truly is an historical moment when a world leader steps up and shows such character and dedication to the causes he holds most dear. Of course, you probably want to know what Kofi Annan did?
Well, I'm glad you asked that question.
  1. Changed the name of the Human Rights Commission to the Human Rights Council;
  2. Removed six seats from the former Commission;
  3. Every UN member state eligible to join;
  4. Elected by secret ballot, needs absolute Assembly majority;
  5. Each member serves for three-year term;
  6. All UN members will eventually have rights record reviewed;
  7. Systematic violators of human rights could be suspended.
Three cheers for Kofi Annan and the United Nations!
